The  Ensembles

wind ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is conducted by Mr. Brian Best and is open to students in all four grades.  In order to be a member of this group, a student must demonstrate the highest level of musical maturity, technical proficiency, and commitment to rehearsal and practice time.  A student must seriously pursue individual goals on their instrument as well as working diligently toward ensemble goals. Acceptance into The Wind Ensemble is by audition only. These auditions typically occur in December and May. Auditioning for all-region band and playing at the UIL solo and ensemble contest is required. Private Lessons are strongly encouraged.

symphonic winds

​The Symphonic Band is conducted by Mr. Ryan Meadows and is also comprised of students in all four grades.  To be a member of this group, a student must demonstrate a high level of musical maturity, technical proficiency, and commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Auditioning for all-region band and playing at the UIL solo and ensemble competition is strongly encouraged.  Private lessons are strongly encouraged.


swingin' cats jazz ensemble

The Jazz Ensemble is conducted by Mr. Ryan Meadows and is comprised of students in all four grades. This ensemble is selected by audition only and serves as an additional musical outlet available to students at SHS.  Auditioning for all-region jazz band and playing at the UIL solo and ensemble competition is required.

The Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Best, Mr. Meadows, Mr. Lemmond, and Mrs. Maxwell


color guard

The Color Guard is directed by Mr. Best, Mr. Meadows, and Mrs. Maxwell and is an extension of the Marching Band in the Fall and performs as an individual unit in the Spring


tune squad

The Tune Squad is the basketball pep-band for Splendora High School and only exists in the second semester. This ensemble is directed by Mr. Ryan Meadows
