Greetings, fellow Wildcats! Hope you all had a very tremendously awesome weekend! We are VERY proud of all of our band students who participated in this year’s Solo Ensemble contest. This year, we brought home 52 Division 1 gold medals, in addition to our 16 students who will participate in Texas State Solo and Ensemble contest. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR BAND STUDENTS WHO AUDITIONED! DISNEY: This week, the Splendora HS band students who registered for the Disney trip will be traveling to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. All of the information is being sent out to the students in Remind. A lot of information has gone out to those students - if you have any questions, please email me at bbest@splendoraisd.org BOOSTER MEETING: This Tuesday is our band parent Booster meeting at 6:30pm in the HS band hall. We have some big plans coming up, as we are planning one of the biggest parent events we’ve had yet. We will be discussing those plans tomorrow.
Welcome back everyone from a super cold weekend! Hope everyone was warm and stayed safe during the crazy cold weather. We had to make some changes to our schedule due to the school closure.
CONTEST PARENT SIGNATURE: Students were sent home with a April Contest Notification letter. We are asking all parents to read the letter, sign it, and return it to us. It is a notification explaining what will be happening in the week of April when there is a spring break - it will conflict with Concert and Sightreading contest, the biggest event we have of the year. We will explain more as the time gets closer. Thank you to those who have already signed and returned. If you have not already signed it, please return it with your child this week. For this week, the upcoming events are as follows:
UIL SOLO AND ENSEMBLE: Congratulations to all of our band students who performed for UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday! We are proud of you all! The following students earned a Divison 1 at UIL Solo and Ensemble contest on a Grade 1 Ensemble and qualified to participate in State Solo and Ensemble contest!
DISNEY TRIP GOERS: If you are a student going on the trip to Disney World on February 17th, you and your parents must attend the February 10th Disney Meeting. Forms will be signed, and handbooks will be disbursed. We will be going over very important information pertaining to the trip. If you are unable to attend the meeting, we must schedule an appointment to meet at another time with you and your parents to go over everything. FRIDAY PERFORMERS: Sorry you did not get to perform last week due to cold weather. We have moved your round of solo and ensemble contest to Friday February 11th. Your performance time is posted on the band hall wall. It's the same time as before - we will just now move the performance day to the 11th of February and keep things the way it was. COLOR GUARD: The color guard performs for their first time this season at Texas Color Guard Circuit. We will need volunteers to come with us for the contest day. We will be reaching out to band students in class to see who would be interested in volunteering. An itinerary will be going out to parents this week for the kids who will be competiting at Goose Creek Memorial HS for TCGC color guard contest. And for the first time ever, a JUNIOR HIGH color guard unit is competing with the high school! GOOD LUCK COLOR GUARD! That is all for now! Let's have a great week! And PRACTICE 30 MINS A DAY AT THE MINIMUM. (side note: the band directors have been in ongoing design meetings with our new design team for the 2022 marching band, and we are beyond excited about what we are about to unveil for our band program. We are excited to welcome our new incoming 9th graders into our awesome program, and we will unveil our plans for the marching band at this year's banquet, as is tradition...) FEBRUARY IS UPON US! We have quite a few things coming up!
This weekend is UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest. Your child will be assigned a performance time on Friday after school or Saturday morning. Once our schedules are outlined, we will be getting that information out to your kids. The contest will be held at Splendora HS in the band hall - we won't need to travel for this one. Make sure that all band students are practicing at least 20-30 mins a day on their instrument. We do not do practice records at the high school level, and we trust that all students are taking their horns home every day and putting in a little bit of time getting better on their instruments for our team. We can use parent support on this as well. That's it for now! We will come back on the next week with some more announcements, but this will get us started for this week. Thank you all! #championshipmindset #showup #allin #noregrets
