DISNEY TRIP 2022!

The band directors would like to thank our Splendora ISD school board and central administration for approving and allowing our high school band to travel to Orlando, Florida and perform in the Walt Disney music studio at Imagination Campus where the musical magic happens. Our kids learned how to sightread along with movie scores like the professionals do, which was a tremendous experience for them. Our kids had a blast, and our trip was absolutely perfect.

We are so thankful for their support to our band program. The high school band typically requests to take a long performance trip every two years, so we are already excited for the possibilities that 2024 could have for us. We are looking forward to what is next to come for the Splendora HS Band.

PRE-Uil is almost here!

Next week on March 8th, we have our Pre-UIL Concert and Sightreading evaluation at the Splendora JH auditorium. This is a required performance for all Splendora HS band students. Please make all plans to be there to perform for our first concert band contest of the spring season.

Tamale Sale!

Our next big tamale sale begins this Thursday on March 3rd. Hosted by the Band Boosters, our additional funding we receive through this fundraiser helps us with the additoinal items that we need to be a great band program. We need 100% participation on this fundraiser, and there will be big incentives for those who sell big.

Faculty basketball tournament!

On this Friday, our very own Mr. Meadows has signed up to get his game on in the Splendora HS basketball tournament. Show him your support by buying a ticket for $5, and be loud and proud.

If you are a student going on the trip to Disney World on February 17th, you and your parents must attend the February 10th Disney Meeting. Forms will be signed, and handbooks will be disbursed. We will be going over very important information pertaining to the trip. If you are unable to attend the meeting, we must schedule an appointment to meet at another time with you and your parents to go over everything.

FRIDAY PERFORMERS:
Sorry you did not get to perform last week due to cold weather. We have moved your round of solo and ensemble contest to Friday February 11th. Your performance time is posted on the band hall wall. It's the same time as before - we will just now move the performance day to the 11th of February and keep things the way it was.

COLOR GUARD:
The color guard performs for their first time this season at Texas Color Guard Circuit. We will need volunteers to come with us for the contest day. We will be reaching out to band students in class to see who would be interested in volunteering. An itinerary will be going out to parents this week for the kids who will be competiting at Goose Creek Memorial HS for TCGC color guard contest. And for the first time ever, a JUNIOR HIGH color guard unit is competing with the high school! GOOD LUCK COLOR GUARD!

That is all for now! Let's have a great week! And PRACTICE 30 MINS A DAY AT THE MINIMUM.

(side note: the band directors have been in ongoing design meetings with our new design team for the 2022 marching band, and we are beyond excited about what we are about to unveil for our band program. We are excited to welcome our new incoming 9th graders into our awesome program, and we will unveil our plans for the marching band at this year's banquet, as is tradition...)

FEBRUARY IS UPON US! We have quite a few things coming up!
  • Feb 4th - Pre-UIL Solo and Ensemble
  • Feb 5th - Actual UIL Solo and Ensemble
  • Feb 8th - Spirit Night Fundraiser at Splendora Cafe
  • Feb 10th - Disney Trip Meeting
  • Feb 12th - Color Guard TCGC Competition @ Goose Creek Memorial HS
  • Feb 15th - Band Parent Booster Meeting
  • Feb 17th-22nd - HS Disney Trip
  • Feb 24th - End of 3rd Week

This weekend is UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest. Your child will be assigned a performance time on Friday after school or Saturday morning. Once our schedules are outlined, we will be getting that information out to your kids. The contest will be held at Splendora HS in the band hall - we won't need to travel for this one.

Make sure that all band students are practicing at least 20-30 mins a day on their instrument. We do not do practice records at the high school level, and we trust that all students are taking their horns home every day and putting in a little bit of time getting better on their instruments for our team. We can use parent support on this as well.

That's it for now! We will come back on the next week with some more announcements, but this will get us started for this week. Thank you all! #championshipmindset #showup #allin #noregrets
